 Manito Park Duncan Garden

John Duncan envisioned a Renaissance style garden with a central water feature and an extensive display of colorful annual bedding plants. Mr. Duncan’s contribution was permanently recognized when the Sunken Garden was renamed in his honor in 1941, Duncan Garden.

The gorgeous granite fountain in the center of the garden highlights the perfectly manicured garden. The fountain was a gift in 1956 from Mrs. Louis M. Davenport in memory of her husband. Louis Davenport had an eye for beautiful structures. His Davenport Hotel still stands in downtown Spokane. It is only fitting that such a remarkable center piece memorializes him.

Duncan Garden proudly displays another classic feature, a gazebo. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Manito Park, the Friends of Manito donated this gazebo that sits at Duncan Garden’s the southern most end.
